When Should I Seek Professional Help?

  • prolonged feelings of worry or sadness

  • changes in sleep or eating patterns

  • increased anxiety

  • a loss of interest in usual activities

  • an experience of significant loss

  • a need for personal support in crisis or life transition

  • self-destructive or unhealthy behaviors

  • thoughts of death or suicide

During the normal developmental stages of life, most people encounter stressors and unexpected events that can throw them off balance. In meeting these life challenges their thoughts, philosophies, and outlooks impact the way they feel and respond. Faulty assumptions or mistaken goals may inhibit growth and cause inner turmoil.

Professional counseling is helpful during these times. In a climate of respect, compassion, and trust, individuals are encouraged to resolve unfinished developmental tasks, to gain insight, to modify behaviors and feelings, to problem-solve, and to grow to their full potential.

Free phone consultation: 207-797-5911. Confidentiality is respected at all times. Our office is located at 1321 Washington Ave, Portland, Maine. The counseling center is on the second floor, suite 13. The building is easily accessible and has ample free parking.
